I've always known that I want to facilitate learning and I believe the great outdoors is the best classroom and instructor we could possibly have access to. In the natural world, I have discovered that a good leader and a good teacher are the same thing: a lifelong learner who is committed to building community and managing the risks that we must seek out in order to grow. These things form the foundation of my goals for the future: to teach and to learn in a place-based context. The human capacity for knowledge and wisdom make us uniquely qualified to leave this world better than we found it. My vision for the future is a planet where we understand ourselves and the earth well enough that eventually, a "footprint" is something we want to leave. Education is the key to making this a reality.
